Automation technology for pipe manufacturing continues to evolve, and Tubotech – International Trade Fair for Pipes, Valves, Pumps, Fittings, and Components remains a prominent stage for launches and innovations, open to the public. The trade fair opened this Tuesday (Oct 3) at São Paulo Expo.

This is the case of Ternec Lubrificantes, an exhibitor specialized in the development of solutions for industrial fluids such as lubricants, process fluids, and protective oils. For this edition of the trade fair, the company is bringing an innovation focused on the tube manufacturing process, more specifically for monitoring fluids applied in tube forming.

As explained by commercial supervisor Karina Paula da Silva, it is a device that automatically monitors fluid measurements in the forming process. Called Terbox, the equipment performs analyses every three minutes, generating graphs and showing information that can identify factors outside ideal parameters, such as pH, concentrations, and bacteriological formations in the case of vegetable oils. The collected data is also stored in the cloud, generating a reliable history of the measurements.

“It brings the advantage of foreseeing a problem more quickly,” Silva illustrates. “The equipment is already being tested by a client of ours, but the market launch is happening right here at the trade fair.”.

Sindicel Director warns about the illegal market for electrical wires and cables

To mitigate losses and security risks caused by the sale of electrical wires and cables that do not comply with safety and performance standards, Sindicel (Union of the Electric Conductor, Wire Drawing, and Non-Ferrous Metal Rolling Industry of the State of São Paulo) carries out ongoing quality testing and verification work.

Through its National Plan to Combat the Illegal Market for Electrical Wires and Cables, the union aims to alert consumers, authorities, and companies in the sector about the negative impacts caused by this market.

According to Enio Rodrigues, Executive Director of Sindicel, it is estimated that in 2022, approximately 30% of the products sold were part of the illegal market. It is also estimated that this market generated R$ 2.4 billion. This is a significant amount compared to the R$ 7.45 billion that the entire electrical wire and cable sector generated in the same year, according to data from the union.

Rodrigues warns of the dangers of using non-compliant products, which range from higher energy consumption to the risk of fire: “Our main goal is to protect society from this type of product. In addition to the fire hazard, energy consumption can be up to 30% higher if the products used are noncompliant.”.

During the three days of wire South America – International Wire and Cable Fair, held in conjunction with the 12th Tubotech – International Trade Fair for Pipes, Valves, Pumps, Fittings and Components, Sindicel and Qualifio (Brazilian Association for the Quality of Electrical Wires and Cables) will be conducting tests in their Mobile Laboratory.

during the 6th wire South America

Two vans equipped to test the quality and safety of electrical wires and cables are conducting practical demonstrations at wire South America – International Wire and Cable Fair, which opened this Tuesday (Oct 3) at São Paulo Expo. They are part of the mobile laboratory initiative maintained by Sindicel (Union of the Electrical Conductor, Wire Drawing, and Non-Ferrous Metal Rolling Industry of the State of São Paulo) in partnership with Qualifio (Brazilian Association for Quality in Electrical Wires and Cables).

The two vehicles travel through Brazilian cities and states with the mission of presenting to the market the types of tests that can be applied, in addition to promoting lectures that warn about the dangers and damages that the use of non-standard products can cause. All the work is carried out by specialized professionals.

Data from 2022 estimate that 30% of the products sold during that period are part of an illegal market for products that do not meet regulatory quality and safety standards. The goal of the mobile laboratory initiative is to raise awareness among companies, retailers, and consumers about the dangers posed by illegal products, ranging from increased energy consumption to fire hazards.

In the demonstration taking place at the fair, it is possible to see the degradation of illegal materials when placed under conditions they should normally withstand. Overheating, melting, and a much higher electrical conduction resistance than expected are some examples.

In the daily routine of its operation, when tests identify illegal products, the union files a complaint with the competent authorities.
