The 11th Tubotech – International Trade Fair for Pipes, Valves, Pumps, Fittings and Components, which opened on the afternoon of the 25th and remains open until today (October 27) at the São Paulo Expo, in the capital of São Paulo. Around 100 exhibitors, including representatives from 14 countries, stand out for the diversity of launches and trends on offer.
In this way, in addition to bringing together organizations from various countries, the event also fosters business transactions between manufacturers, distributors, and service providers, as explained by Regina Silva, International Sales Portfolio Director at Fiera Milano Brasil, the organizer and promoter of Tubotech 2022.
“We expect to welcome more than 12,000 industry professionals over the three days. It will be a true showcase of technology and an unmissable opportunity to foster business, exchange information, and share technical knowledge, especially with the Tubotech-Techmei 2022 Congress, held in partnership with Abimei,” he stated.
Within the exhibition space, according to Regina, the idea is to promote the pursuit of innovation for the sector's technological challenges, enabling visitors to follow the demonstration of new products and services entering the market, as well as to interact with experts who will answer their questions. Companies will be able to showcase solutions that are already being applied and point out research under development for new technologies for the infrastructure, automotive, mining, petrochemical, and metal-mechanic industries in Brazil.
Simultaneously and also at the São Paulo Expo, Fiera Milano Brasil is also promoting the 5th wire South America – International Wire and Cable Fair, held in partnership with Messe Düsseldorf. The products and visitors of this fair have a great synergy with those of Tubotech.
During wire South America, the Brazilian market gains the first rigid stranding machine for 06, 12, and 18 spools produced in the country. The equipment is the main launch from Supicom, which developed the project over the past year to meet high demand, according to Guilherme Hayashi, the company's managing partner.
According to Hayashi, the machine—which has been available on the market since the trade show—features more up-to-date technology than the machines imported by other companies. “In addition, its price is about 23% lower than that of machines from abroad, and it has a shorter delivery time—approximately 120 days—is easier to load with reels, and is simpler to operate,” he says.
A market reference in Brazil for polymers in the Power and Telecom cable industries, Polyexcel is presenting a broad catalog of crosslinked and thermoplastic compounds at wire South America, such as XLPE, XLPE AT, LSZH/HFFR/ATOX, semiconductive, among other solutions. Materials that connect to the future and are involved in movement – they help the world connect.
“Our customers never lack raw materials and also technical presence at their plants, which is essential to ensure quality and productivity. Our focus is our customer's focus. Our products and services are developed to achieve excellence in performance,” states Rodrigo Belloli, Commercial Director of Polyexcel.
The company wants to leverage its participation in the event to publicize three developments: 1) Polysolutions – a line of complementary solutions for power and telecom cables, such as blocking and semi-conductive tapes, FRP, blocking yarn, PBT, gel, among others; 2) Specialties in the Polyplast line, such as flame-retardant PE (flame-retardant polyethylene); and 3) PolyGreen – sugarcane-based PE compounds for power and telecom cables, made from renewable sources and offering a significant reduction in the carbon footprint of the final product.
GERMAN TECHNOLOGY – With the support of the German government and organized by Messe Düsseldorf, nine companies from Germany's wire and tube sector are exhibiting at wire South America, which is taking place at the São Paulo Expo until Thursday (27).
According to Daniel Ryfisch, project director of wire – Tube – Valve World Expo, the world's largest trade fair for cables, tubes, and fittings, the promotion of German companies“ participation in trade fairs around the world has been happening for a long time. ”The Ministry of Economy encourages this type of exchange in various sectors. The intention is for innovations to be initially launched in Germany and then presented at various trade fairs around the world."
Ryfisch, who already participated in wire in 2019, recalls that innovations in the machinery and equipment sector have a cycle of about two years. “That is why we always have new products to present,” she states.
Industry 4.0 On the 25th, during the Tubotech-Techmei Congress, Ennio Crispino, chairman of the Board of Directors of the Brazilian Association of Importers of Machinery and Industrial Equipment (Abimei), moderated the meeting, which debated the “Importance of Industry 4.0 for the competitiveness of the domestic industry” as the theme of the first lecture.
“Connectivity is essential, and we need new technologies that increase efficiency so that business owners can overcome the challenge of generating new business for their companies. It is necessary to pay attention to sustainability, a high-priority agenda, by guiding their operational and business models, considered Valdenio Araujo, productivity and innovation analyst at the Brazilian Industrial Development Agency (ABDI).
Ari Nelson Rodrigues Costa, a professor and researcher at IMT (Mauá Institute of Technology), pointed out that there is a need to bring national industry to Industry 4.0, but that this path is a long one. “Cultural change begins with awareness. Digital transformation is a journey that we have the possibility of achieving. Companies need to rethink digital transformation,” he commented.
Finally, the panel featured Marcos Bastos, managing partner and Executive Director of FK Consulting PRO. With 40 years in the sector, Marcos emphasized the transformation processes that manufacturers have already undergone and the need for companies to become attractive in the market.
“Everything gets easier when proper value is placed on the transfer. There are resources, sensors, and devices that already bring data collected from the machine and facilitate decision-making, which is very beneficial for the company. One cannot think about national competitiveness without optimizing and going through 4.0. Industry works with tight margins to compete, whether domestically or abroad. The process takes time and you need to choose where to place the investment,” he concluded.
INDUSTRIAL POLICY – The lack of an industrial policy directly affects Brazil's development, according to Jorge Luiz de Lima, partner and vice president of Strategy and Business at Grupo H, who spoke about “Industrial Policy Suggestions for Brazil” during the Tubotech-Tehmei Congress.
This lack of policy for industries, according to Lima, is made even worse by the high tax burden—the so-called “Brazil Cost”—which currently stands at 34%. “With this cost, it is impossible for a company to operate properly, compromising productivity and product quality.” Another factor, according to the executive, is that companies today pay 1.7 times the value of their employees’ salaries in taxes.
