Pipe, valve, and fitting manufacturers are betting on the market

Fire incidents have repeatedly made headlines around the world in recent months, from the flames that destroyed the National Museum in Rio de Janeiro and the Cathedral of Notre-Dame in Paris to the tragedy at Flamengo's training center and the recent fires in the Amazon.

Given this, several companies have sought solutions to update – and improve – fire prevention and combat systems. In the sector of pipes, valves, pumps, connections, and components – essential materials for the manufacture of hoses, extinguishers, hydrants, and sprinklers –, there are various innovations.

The Brazilian company Remadi, which works with galvanized fittings and hydraulic metals, has been investing in the so-called “grooved system.”.

“These are grooved connections and couplings that replace the use of threads in pipes and fittings,” explained David Campos, the company's commercial manager.

“In the past, both threading and welding were mainly the most used in fire-fighting systems and piping. This new grooved system is the joining of pipes and fittings through couplings,” he told ANSA.

According to Campos, the model currently used in firefighting could in the future be an alternative for other segments, such as oil and drinking water, which require threading or welding.

IPC Brasil, with headquarters in São Paulo, Santa Catarina, and Rio Grande do Sul, is launching GIPP Fire Protection, a line of malleable iron fittings for fire fighting.
“We have ball valves, fluid control valves, temperature and pressure control valves, as well as bronze and brass gate valves,” said the company's CEO, Flávio Paiva.
“This set of products makes up the Fire Protection Line, intended for clients who operate in fire prevention and fighting,” he added.

The launch is scheduled to take place during the International Fair for Tubes, Valves, Pumps, Fittings, and Components (Tubotech), scheduled for October 1 to 3 in São Paulo.

The event, which is in its 10th edition, is held by the Brazilian Association of the Metal Pipe and Fitting Industry (Abitam) and organized and promoted by Cipa Fiera Milano.
