According to the executive, Brazil presents several opportunities to ensure greater investment in sanitation. \u201cThe National Basic Sanitation Plan was launched with an initial investment projection of over R$ 508 billion to achieve universal access to water, sewage, waste management, and drainage services from 2014 to 2033. To date, approximately R$ 70 billion has been invested in projects in the sector. Long-term planning is necessary to ensure the quality of the systems to be implemented. This also creates opportunities for companies interested in the sector, whether through PPPs (Public-Private Partnerships) or other models.\u201d. <\/em><\/p>\n Highlighting the sector\u2019s outlook and citing data from the Ministry of Cities, investments in basic sanitation are expected to total R$ 1.230 billion in 2017, an amount 24% lower than that invested in 2016. \u201cFunding allocated to basic sanitation projects in the states fell by 30.3% in the 12-month period ending in April 2017.
